Moms, before your child plays sports, read this!
The most crucial role of a mom is to protect her child! As a concussion specialist, I suffered from 6 head injuries as an adult and endless falls as a child. I can honestly say the brain has a fantastic way of healing itself. My brain today is better than when I was 20.
First, let’s talk about what a concussion is and how it affects the brain.
Good News
The good news is that 80 percent of people heal from a concussion within the first four weeks — most kids within a week.
Who are at risk of not healing within four weeks?
- Kids who have ADHD
- Kids who have suffered repeated trauma- physical, emotional, and mental
- Kids who have had multiple concussions since birth.
As a mom here, the most common causes of head injury
1. The most common head injury cause is falling, not sports!
2. Car accidents
3. Physical assault
Another lesser-known cause of head injury is choking or shaking.
FAKE NEWs
You have to hit your head to have a concussion.
You have to blackout to have a concussion.
Less than 10 percent of head injuries.

Never ask a concussed person how they are doing or if they are okay. They can not advocate for themselves.
Their brain is in fight or flight, and sharing any weakness is not what the limbic brain will do. So, they will answer, I am fine. Or I am okay.
Also, as a parent of a concussed child, they need support to stay off social media and rest their brains.
